Getting Started
What is self storage and how does it work?
Self storage is a convenient solution that gives you secure, private space to store your belongings outside your home or business. You rent a unit (like a mini garage or room), access it whenever you need, and only pay for the space and time you use. It’s perfect for clearing out clutter, storing business inventory, protecting seasonal items, or keeping belongings safe during life transitions like moves, renovations, or downsizing.
At Neighborhood Storage, we make it simple: choose your unit size online, sign your lease digitally or in person, get your access code, and start storing the same day. No hassle, no hidden fees.
How do I rent a storage unit?
Renting is easy and can be done entirely online:
- Browse available units on our website by location and size
- Select your unit and rental duration
- Complete your lease online or visit us in person
- Set up payment (credit card, autopay, or online portal)
- Get your access code and start moving in immediately
You can rent a unit in under 10 minutes from your phone or computer. Prefer to visit in person? We’d love to show you around.
What locations do you have?
We have two convenient locations serving Northwest Arkansas:
Siloam Springs: 3490 US-412, Siloam Springs, AR 72761
Serving Siloam Springs, Gentry, Watts, West Siloam Springs, and surrounding areas
Tontitown/Springdale: 525 W Henri de Tonti Blvd, Springdale, AR 72762
Serving Springdale, Tontitown, Rogers, Fayetteville, Bentonville, and surrounding areas
Both locations offer 24/7 access, but our Tontitown location also features coworking space, private offices, and a conference room.
Do I need to schedule a tour before renting?
Not required, but highly recommended! Tours help you see the facility, understand access procedures, and ensure you’re choosing the right unit size. Many customers overestimate or underestimate what they need — seeing units in person helps you make the best choice and save money.
Schedule a free tour at either location. We’ll walk you through everything and answer all your questions.
What documents do I need to rent a unit?
You’ll need:
- Valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, or state ID)
- Payment method (credit card, debit card, or bank account for autopay)
- Proof of address (utility bill or lease agreement) if different from your ID
Business renters may also need a business license or EIN. We’ll walk you through everything during the rental process.
Pricing & Payment
How much does self storage cost?
Our rates vary based on unit size, type (climate controlled vs. drive-up), and location. Here’s a general overview:
Small Units (5×5 to 5×10): Starting at $50/month
Medium Units (10×10 to 10×15): Starting at $130/month
Large Units (10×20 to 10×30): Starting at $140+/month
RV & Boat Storage: Custom pricing based on size
Warehouse Spaces: Contact us for commercial rates
View current pricing and availability for both locations.
First-time renter? Ask about our new tenant discount!
How do I pay for my storage unit every month?
We make payment easy and convenient:
Automatic Payments: Set up autopay with a credit card or bank account — your payment processes automatically each month. (Most popular option!)
Online Portal: Log in anytime to make one-time payments, update payment methods, or view your account history. Access our Customer Payment Portal.
In Person: Visit our office during business hours to pay with cash, check, or card.
By Phone: Call us at 479-480-4995 to process a payment over the phone.
Late fees apply after the grace period, so we strongly recommend setting up autopay to avoid missed payments.
Is there a deposit required?
Most units require a refundable security deposit equal to one month’s rent. The deposit is returned when you move out, provided your unit is clean and undamaged, and your account is paid in full.
Some promotional periods may waive the deposit — ask about current specials!
Are there any additional fees?
We believe in transparent pricing. Here’s what you can expect:
Included in your monthly rate:
- 24/7 facility access
- Keyless entry system
- On-site security monitoring
- Well-lit, maintained facility
Additional fees may include:
- One-time administrative fee (typically $20-50)
- Lock purchase (if you don’t bring your own)
- Tenant protection plan (required for coverage)
- Late payment fees if rent is overdue
No hidden fees, no surprises. We’ll explain all costs upfront before you sign.
Do you offer discounts or promotions?
Yes! We regularly offer specials for new tenants, military members, students, and long-term renters. Current promotions include:
- New tenant discounts (first month free or 50% off)
- Military and veteran discounts
- Prepay discounts (pay 6-12 months upfront and save)
- Referral bonuses (refer a friend and both get credit)
Check our current promotions or ask when you rent.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept:
- Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express)
- Debit cards
- ACH/bank transfers for autopay
- Cash (in-person only)
- Checks (in-person only)
Online payments are processed securely through our customer portal.
Can I change my unit size later?
Absolutely! Life changes, and so do storage needs. If you need more space or want to downsize, just let us know. We’ll help you transfer to a different unit based on availability.
Transfer fees may apply, but we’ll always work with you to find the most cost-effective solution.

What’s the difference between climate controlled and drive-up storage?
Great question! Here’s how they compare:
Climate Controlled Storage:
- Indoor units with regulated temperature (55-85°F) and humidity
- Protects sensitive items from extreme heat, cold, and moisture
- Ideal for: Electronics, furniture, documents, artwork, clothing, antiques, musical instruments
- Access: Indoor hallways, cart-friendly, well-lit
- Cost: Slightly higher than drive-up due to climate control
Drive-Up Storage:
- Outdoor units with direct vehicle access
- Ground-level, pull-up-and-load convenience
- Ideal for: Tools, equipment, patio furniture, non-sensitive items, vehicles
- Access: Drive right to your unit door
- Cost: More affordable, great for weather-resistant items
Rule of thumb: If you’d keep it inside your house, choose climate control. If it lives in your garage or shed, drive-up works great.
Do you have indoor storage units?
Yes! Both locations offer indoor climate-controlled storage units with:
- Temperature regulation (55-85°F)
- Humidity control to prevent mold and mildew
- Clean, well-lit hallways
- Cart and dolly access
- 24/7 secure entry
Our Tontitown location has twice as many climate-controlled units as Siloam Springs, making it ideal for business inventory and sensitive items.
Do you have outdoor storage units?
Yes! Both locations offer outdoor drive-up storage units with:
- Ground-level access — no stairs or elevators
- Wide driveways for trucks and trailers
- Direct vehicle access to your unit door
- Secure perimeter fencing
- 24/7 monitored access
Perfect for tools, equipment, seasonal items, and anything you’d store in a garage.
What items should be stored in climate controlled units?
Choose climate control for items sensitive to temperature and humidity:
Electronics & Appliances: Computers, TVs, stereos, refrigerators, washers/dryers
Furniture: Wood, leather, upholstered items (prevents warping and cracking)
Documents & Photos: Important papers, photographs, books, records
Artwork & Collectibles: Paintings, sculptures, antiques, collections
Clothing & Fabrics: Seasonal clothing, wedding dresses, linens, fabric inventory
Musical Instruments: Guitars, pianos, violins (wood is highly sensitive)
Business Inventory: Retail stock, product samples, sensitive materials
Wine & Specialty Items: Temperature-sensitive collections
Northwest Arkansas humidity can damage these items quickly. Climate control provides peace of mind.
Can I store a car, RV, or boat?
Yes! We offer specialized vehicle storage at both locations:
Siloam Springs:
- RV parking (outdoor spaces)
- Covered boat storage
- Wide access lanes
- 24/7 secure access
Tontitown/Springdale:
- Covered RV parking (premium protection)
- Covered boat storage
- Extra-wide lanes for large vehicles
- Easy in-and-out access
Perfect for seasonal storage, HOA compliance, or simply clearing out your driveway. Our wide lanes make it easy to maneuver large vehicles.

- Perfect for inventory, product storage, fulfillment operations
Outdoor Workshop Spaces:
- Large drive-up units for contractors

Access & Security
When can I access my unit?
Your storage unit is accessible 24/7, 365 days a year — even on holidays. With our keyless entry system, you can visit your unit anytime that works for your schedule, day or night.
Our coworking space and offices have specific hours, but storage access is always available.
How does keyless entry work?
We use the modern Nokē Smart Entry system for both facility gates and individual storage units:
For Facility Access:
- Get your unique access code when you rent
- Enter your code at the gate using the keypad
- Drive or walk into the facility
For Your Storage Unit:
- Download the free Nokē Smart Entry app on your smartphone
- Connect via Bluetooth when you arrive at your unit
- Tap to unlock — no keys, no codes to remember
- Lock automatically when you leave
The system tracks all access for security purposes and ensures only authorized tenants can enter. It’s faster, safer, and more convenient than traditional keys or padlocks.
Is my storage unit secure?
Absolutely. Security is our top priority. Every facility features:
✓ 24/7 Video Surveillance: Cameras monitor all entry points and common areas
✓ Nokē Smart Lock System: Bluetooth-enabled locks controlled via smartphone app
✓ Perimeter Fencing: Secure fencing surrounds the entire property
✓ Well-Lit Facilities: Bright lighting throughout for safety and visibility
✓ On-Site Management: Regular facility checks and maintenance
✓ Digital Access Tracking: Every unit access is logged for security
While we take extensive security measures, we require tenant protection coverage for added peace of mind.
Do I need to bring my own lock?
No! We provide Nokē Smart Locks for all storage units — one of our favorite features. Here’s how it works:
✓ No physical keys to lose or forget
✓ Access your unit via the Nokē smartphone app
✓ Bluetooth-enabled security
✓ No PIN codes to remember
✓ More secure than traditional padlocks
✓ Convenient 24/7 access from your phone
Simply download the free Nokē Smart Entry app, and you’re ready to access your unit anytime. It’s the modern, hassle-free way to store.
Can other people access my unit?
Only individuals listed on your rental agreement can access your unit. If you’d like to grant access to someone else (family member, employee, business partner), you can:
- Add them as an authorized user on your account
- Provide them with your access code (though we recommend adding them officially)
- Temporarily grant access by contacting our office
For security purposes, we track all facility access by code.
Moving In & Packing
What is the best way to pack a storage unit?
Follow these tips for maximum space and organization:
Start with a plan:
- Create an inventory list of everything you’re storing
- Group similar items together (holiday decorations, summer clothes, tools)
- Label every box clearly on multiple sides
Pack strategically:
- Place large, heavy items at the back of the unit
- Stack boxes with heaviest on bottom, lightest on top
- Leave a walkway down the center for easy access
- Store frequently needed items near the front
- Use shelving units to maximize vertical space
Protect your items:
- Use quality boxes (not old grocery boxes that might collapse)
- Wrap furniture in blankets or moving pads
- Disassemble large furniture to save space
- Place plastic sheeting under items on the floor
- Add photos to box labels so you can “see” what’s inside
Maximize space:
- Fill dresser drawers with linens or clothing
- Store items inside appliances and furniture
- Use vacuum-seal bags for clothing and bedding
- Fill empty spaces with soft items
Need moving supplies? We have boxes, tape, and packing materials available for purchase.
Can you help me move my items?
While we don’t provide moving services directly, we’re happy to recommend trusted local movers who work with our customers regularly. We can also provide:
- Free use of carts and dollies during your move-in
- Wide driveways for moving trucks
- Ground-level access at both locations
- Loading/unloading tips and advice
Many customers also use portable storage containers (PODS, U-Pack) that can be delivered directly to our facility.
Where can I get packing supplies?
While we don’t sell packing supplies on-site, we recommend these local options:
- U-Haul (multiple NWA locations)
- Home Depot or Lowe’s
- Walmart for basic boxes and tape
- Office supply stores for specialty packing materials
Pro tip: Check with local grocery stores or liquor stores for free boxes! Many are happy to give away sturdy boxes that would otherwise be recycled.
Need moving help? We’re happy to recommend trusted local movers who work with our customers regularly.
How far in advance should I reserve a unit?
You can reserve a unit as little as a few hours in advance or several weeks ahead, depending on availability. For best selection (especially during busy seasons like May-August), we recommend reserving 1-2 weeks in advance.
If you need immediate access, call us — we can often accommodate same-day rentals based on availability.
Can I move in the same day I rent?
Yes! Once your lease is signed and payment is processed, you’ll receive your access code immediately and can start moving in right away. The entire rental process takes less than 15 minutes if done online.
Storage Rules & Policies
Are there any items I am not able to store?
For safety and legal reasons, we cannot allow storage of:
Prohibited items:
- Hazardous materials (gasoline, propane, chemicals, paint, oil)
- Flammable or combustible liquids
- Explosives, fireworks, or ammunition
- Illegal substances or contraband
- Perishable food items
- Living plants or animals
- Stolen property
- Items with strong odors
If you’re unsure whether an item is acceptable, please contact us before storing it. Violation of storage policies may result in lease termination.
Can I store firearms or ammunition?
You may store legally owned firearms (unloaded and secured), but ammunition is prohibited due to fire safety regulations. All firearms must comply with federal and state laws and be stored securely in a locked container within your unit.
Can I run a business from my storage unit?
You cannot operate a retail business or conduct regular business activities from your storage unit (no walk-in customers, no manufacturing, no overnight stays). However, you CAN use storage for:
✓ Business inventory and product storage
✓ Equipment and tool storage
✓ Order fulfillment and shipping prep
✓ Seasonal business supplies
For a proper business workspace, consider our private office rental or coworking space at our Tontitown location — then use your storage unit for inventory. It’s the perfect hybrid setup for NWA small businesses.
Do you require insurance?
Yes, we require tenant protection coverage for all stored items. This protects both you and us in case of unexpected events like fire, water damage, or theft. You have two options:
Option 1: Purchase our tenant protection plan (affordable monthly coverage)
Option 2: Provide proof of your own insurance policy that covers stored items
Our protection plans start at just a few dollars per month and provide peace of mind.
What happens if I don’t pay my rent?
We understand life happens, and we’re here to work with you. Here’s our process:
Grace period: You have a grace period after your due date before late fees apply
Late fees: Late fees are added if payment isn’t received during grace period
Communication: We’ll contact you via email, phone, and mail to help resolve the issue
Lien process: After extended non-payment, we may place a lien on your unit
Auction: As a last resort, unpaid units may be auctioned per Arkansas law
Don’t let it get this far! If you’re having trouble making a payment, contact us immediately. We can often work out a payment plan or solution.

Moving Out
How do I end my rental?
We require written notice before moving out:
Month-to-month leases: 10 days written notice before the end of the billing cycle
Long-term leases: Check your contract for specific notice requirements
Submit your move-out notice:
- Through your online customer portal
- Via email to info@neighborhoodstoragenwa.com
- In person at our office
- By certified mail
Make sure to provide your move-out date and confirm your account is paid in full to receive your deposit refund.
Do I need to clean my unit before moving out?
Yes, please leave your unit in the same condition you received it:
- Remove all items and trash
- Sweep or vacuum the floor
- Remove any tape, stickers, or adhesives from walls
- Return the unit empty and broom-clean
Units left excessively dirty may incur cleaning fees deducted from your security deposit. Note: You don’t need to worry about removing locks — our Nokē Smart Locks stay with the unit.
How do I get my deposit back?
Your security deposit is refunded within 30 days of move-out if:
✓ Your account balance is paid in full (no outstanding charges)
✓ The unit is clean and undamaged
✓ Proper notice was given
Deposits are typically refunded via check mailed to the address on file or credited back to your payment method.
Can I leave my lock on the unit?
Our Nokē Smart Locks are permanent fixtures on each unit, so there’s nothing for you to remove! When you move out, we simply deactivate your app access. Easy and hassle-free.
Special Situations
Can I share a unit with someone else?
Yes, multiple people can share a unit, but only one person can be the primary account holder. Additional users must be listed on the lease as authorized. All users are jointly responsible for payment and unit condition.
Splitting costs? We recommend one person pays us, and you handle cost-sharing privately.
What if I’m storing items during a divorce or estate settlement?
We understand these situations can be sensitive. We recommend:
- Ensure only authorized individuals are listed on the account
- Keep communication clear about who has access rights
- Consider separate units if needed to avoid access disputes
- Update account information promptly if circumstances change
We’re here to help make the storage aspect as simple as possible during challenging times.
Can I use storage during a home renovation?
Absolutely! Storage during renovations is one of our most popular uses. Benefits include:
✓ Protect furniture and belongings from dust and damage
✓ Clear space for contractors to work efficiently
✓ Keep your home functional during the project
✓ Flexible rental periods (store for a few weeks or several months)
Many customers rent for 2-3 months during kitchen or bathroom remodels, then move items back home once work is complete.
Do you offer military discounts?
Yes! We proudly support active duty military, veterans, and their families with special discounts. Bring your military ID or proof of service when you rent to receive your discount.
Thank you for your service to our country.
Can students rent storage units?
Yes! College students are welcome. We offer flexible short-term rentals perfect for summer breaks, study abroad, or semester transitions. Student discounts may be available — ask when you rent.
